Building rapport looks easy. Anyone who does it well ... knows it's hard.
People comment how they are a more engaged worker and better person after working together - sometimes that s being in the audience when I m a speaker or leading a workshop. Other times that s the result of a consulting project or coaching.

It s painful to see people being left out. I even created Watercooler Football, teaching people about how to watch football games and what football can teach about business. If you can t speak sports, it s easy to feel left out of conversations around the watercooler.

As a child my family moved to the Philippines and Thailand. I know what it s like to be the new kid over and over again. Working in the travel business took me to all 7 continents and over 60 countries. It was quite an education in people.
I am a member of the Chief Executive's Club of Boston, and past president of the American Society for Training and Development of Boston (now the Association of Talent Development).
Washington DC, Boulder, The Philippines, Indiana, Thailand, Alabama, St. Louis have been placed I've lived. Boston is my grown up home.
